Since 1996 the Regional Park Boschi di Carrega take care of the forest nursery Scodogna, owned by the Region Emilia Romagna and located in Pontescodogna, near Collecchio.
The main purpose of the nursery, covering about 17 hectares of land, is to preserve, grow and sell autochtonal forest trees and shrubs, including about 60 different arboreal species and 30 shrub species.
Recently transformed into a lab for research on sustainable development, the nursery is becoming an important reference point for educational activities on environment organized by the Park for adults and schools such as Fattorie Aperte and La Festa dell’albero. A path only open to groups during guided tours, links the nursery to the hills and the farms of Talignano.
In addition to supplying private citizens and public bodies, in recent years the nursery has also been transformed into a laboratory for forestry research and sustainable development and is becoming an important center for environmental education activities that the Park addresses to adults and schools. The classroom, the catalog field of ancient fruit, the cultivated fields and the composting station for the greenery are in fact spaces where workshops and initiatives for adults and children take place.
