Built in the beginning of the 15th century upon an existing fort of the marquees Pallavicino from Polesine, the Antica Corte Pallavicina presents fabulous cellars where cured meats season, cheeses and wines are preserved. The indoors have been restored during the half of the 16th century, when the panelled ceilings were replaced with magnificent umbrella vaults.
After 1780 it was transformed into a barrack, where borders Dragons established to control smuggling developed between the bancks of the river Po. After 1860 the court was divided in small residences used by peasants, fishermen, artisans and carts drivers. Then later the river Po moved and reached the court that remained in the water and got flooded many times.
Now, after an accurate restoraion work, it’s back to the ancient splendors: in the cellars are hanging many culatelli, parmigiano reggiano cheese and wines, in the elegant restaurant (1 Michelin star) the best Bassa Parmense cuisine acan be tasted and in the beautiful bedrooms at the first floor it’s possible to spend a night with the view of the Po river.
