Remarkable body of public buildings, Piazzale della Pace has been recently redesigned on a project by one of the most popular architects in Europe, Mario Botta, rapidly becoming a meeting point for young people.
Botta’s high degree of sensitivity to the environment hosting his architectural creations, has brought together contradictory elements, combining the massive Pilotta palace on the west side with a meadow, tall trees and a fountain on the sites bombed during the war.
On the northern side of the square stands the Intendenza palace, designed by Ennemond Petitot, architect at the court of Marie Louise.
Nestled in the square are also the monument to the Partisan by Marino Mazzacurati and the momument to Giuseppe Verdi by Ximenes.
