Piazza Della Pace - 43121 - Parma (PR)
Designed by Lamberto Cusani, the altar dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, now set in the meadow in front of the Pilotta Palace, is just a fragment of the whole monument dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi once standing in front of the railway station and destroyed by bombs during second world war II.
It’s bronze plates by Ettore Ximenes on the two façades recall scenes of the operas and episodes of the life of the Maestro.
Before the bombing in 1944, the altar was placed in front of the railway station, enclosed by a portico with statues.
