Parma (PR)
Luigi Battei was born in Parma in 1847, here he died in 1917.
Luigi Battei (Parma 1847-1917), the founder of a well-known Parmesan family of editors, book sellers and printers came from an humble family and left school to work for a book store in the historical centre.
A smart and resourceful man, after becoming the owner of the shop in 1872, Luigi started to print and edit books.
Even though he printed most of all books for schools, he always had a special eye for high quality and beautiful prints, and he is now considered the best Parmesan editor of last century.
His son Antonio devoted himself especially to the bookstore but the following generations, Luigi and Angelo, followed the steps of their grandfather.
