Alberto Bevilacqua is one of the most important contemporary Italian writers, born in Parma in 1934, were inspired by the deep tie that has always kept him fascinated by his town and roots.
The Califfa, first published in 1964, was his first major international success, followed by Questa specie d’amore (1966) winner of the Campiello prize and L’occhio del gatto (1968) winner of the Strega prize.
Made up of contradictions, extremism and heroism, his last pubished books are Anima amante (1996), GialloParma (1997), Sorrisi dal mistero (1998) and La polvere sull’erba (Einaudi 2000).
