Domenico Benassi also known as Memo was born in Sorbolo, near Parma, in 1891 and died in Bologna in 1957
One of the best actors of his time, Domenico Benassi is also known as Memo.
In 1921 he worked with Eleonora Duse in the United States and even though he was born for the stage, both as an actor and as a director, he also devoted to cinema, playing roles in almost 35 films.
Among them, La vecchia signora (1932) by A.Palermi costarring with De Sica, L’impiegata di papà (1933) and Il caso Haller (1933) as well as the colossal Scipione l’africano(1937) and La Principessa Tarakanova (1938) opposite Anna Magnani.
He also worked for the television and after his death Sorbolo, the village were he was born, has dedicated to his memory a prize for actors.
