Art treasures unveil at the church of San Francesco del Prato, a Gothic jewel that will reopen after a huge restoration work that is still in progress, among the main events of Parma 2020+21 Italian capital of culture.
To admire this work of art from a privileged point of view, there is the chance to have a guided tour up close, to look closely at the 16 radius window created by Alberto da Verona in 1462, with the great terracotta polychrome frame. This is one of the amazing things of the church that was transformed into jail in the Nepoleonic period and now it’s changing its destiny thanks to a huge donation of those who contributed to sponsor the restoration works, in order to give back this place of art and culture to the city of Parma.
Guided tours are 1 hour long and they start with a narration of the church history, in which famous people as Giovannino Guareschi were imprisoned, then, through a special scaffolding equipped with a lift, the visit continues up to the rose window, to look at it from the above and also have a surprising view on the heart of the city with the near Cathedral.
